How do you repair a broken flex cable on an iPhone?

Using a single-edge razor One cable half’s top side should be scraped to reveal bare copper. Take your time and be careful not to break off any copper when you remove it. It proceeds slowly. The second half of the cable should then be turned over to the rear side and scraped to reveal bare copper. All that is required on either half is around 1/8 to 3/16 inches. Spread a thin layer of solder paste across all exposed copper, and copper sides up. You won’t have to worry about acquiring it on other cable channels. Heat the paste with a soldering iron to make it stick to the copper portion of the cable. Apply this on each side. At this stage, use a solvent or cleanser to remove any leftover paste. Take care not to scrub copper too vigorously to prevent releasing it from the plastic. Go over the copper that has been soldered and remove any extra solder with a wick; the finished surface should only have a thin layer.
First, tightly tie down the top exposed foil side with masking tape. They use masking tape to hold the copper side in place as well as to line it up perfectly with the edge of the tape, overhanging it by about 1/8 of an inch. At the intersection of the two pieces, apply a small amount of solder paste. The top foil should be heated until some solder paste is pulled between the two layers. The top layer should then be held in place while the soldering iron is removed and the blade is replaced, waiting 30 seconds for the solder to cool. If everything looks good, clean away any leftover solder paste. Reheat the joint, separate the two layers, and repeat the process as necessary if the joint does not appear acceptable. Apply extra solder paste and reheat the joint as before if there is too little solder or use a solder wick to remove excess solder.
