How can I pause a CCTV camera?

Before anything else, it’s important to understand the distinction between pausing and turning off a camera. When a security camera pauses, it indicates that it won’t start recording again until a set period of time has passed or unless someone manually turns it back on. Hence ICFix Service provides CCTV training courses in Chennai.

Most security apps and recorders let you create a schedule for when to start and stop recording. You can record at specific times and pause at other times. For instance, only allow the device to record when you are away. Or you could even instruct the system to stop all recording. When a camera is disabled, the system has been “forcefully” removed from it. In other words, the camera is completely inoperative and is often either pulled down or detached from the system or power supply. Vandalizing the camera or just cutting the cables can sometimes be used to disable it.

The local interface of the recorder also allows you to pause the camera. On the NVR or DVR, the same options are available on the phone app or online browser. Enter your username and password to gain access to the recorder, then click Recording (or occasionally Schedule) and choose the camera you want to pause. Set the schedule to pause during specific hours, and you’re done.

The camera will stop sending video feed to the recorder and nothing will be saved if you simply remove the camera from the list on the recorder if you can’t locate such an option. If you decide to change your mind, you must add the camera once more through the local interface. The Stop/Pause button on some CCTV remote controls can be used to pause the camera. See if there is a button like that on your remote control by checking.

If yes, select the camera you want to pause in full-screen mode and press stop/pause. Normally, when the camera is no longer recording, the record icon on the screen should go. Additionally, some recorders have a front screen panel with buttons for recording, stopping, and Pausing as well as navigators, toggles, and other LED lights for monitoring system performance. The system can be stopped by pressing the stop button on the front panel.

Although the system is not capturing anything, you will get the live view. To resume recording after a manual stop, simply press the button one more. These buttons essentially overwrite the system’s preset recording schedule.

Note: Depending on the model, the stop/pause button on the remote control or on the front panel of some recorders will pause recording for all cameras simultaneously. The user might not be able to specifically pause some cameras.
