What are the two types of LCD?

IPS [In-Plane Switching]

 

Comparing IPS to TN displays, IPS performs better in terms of contrast, brightness, viewing angles, and color representation. No matter the viewing angle, images on the screen maintain their quality without turning washed out or distorted. As a result, viewers are not restricted to looking at the display from a front-center position and can watch content on the screen from practically any angle. IPS enables the creation of vivid, precise, and sharp images that can be seen from practically any angle The refresh rate of IPS screens is somewhat lower than that of TN displays. Keep in mind that the transition between an inactive and active pixel takes milliseconds. As a result, the majority of users won’t notice the variation in refresh rates.

 

 

VA [Vertical Alignment]

 

Wide viewing angles, strong contrast, and accurate color reproduction are all features of VA screen displays. They may not achieve the same sunlight-readable brightness levels as comparable TN or IPS LCDs, but they maintain high response rates equivalent to TN TFTs. For applications that must be visible from many angles, such as digital signs in a commercial context, VA displays are typically the best choice.
