The front screen repair is covered with a cost under an instance of accidental damage from handling under your AppleCare+ plan. The display’s glass cover cannot be changed separately.
Although you have to perform the repair yourself, an iPhone screen replacement is actually quite simple. You have to cut through some adhesive, but after that, it’s all screws and connectors. After finishing the repair, you’ll not only feel good about yourself, but your pocketbook will also be grateful.
This is how you can change the screen on your iPhone 6 on your own. You can change your phone’s screen by using this trick, but be careful to focus entirely on it. Because your iPhone might catch fire if you let it go for a moment. So, take caution. A complete iPhone screen repair kit with every tool in it is required.
The first step is to open the “Pentalobe Screws,” but before doing so, you must deplete the battery to below 25% of its capacity because the lithium-ion battery within the iPhone is flammable and can explode as well. Turn off your iPhone’s power before beginning the disassembly. Remove the Lightning connector at this time.
Second step: If the iPhone display glass is cracked, please take care not to damage the iPhone body when taping over the screen. Now, cover the entire face of your iPhone’s display with overlapping strips of clear packaging tape. Take a sturdy piece of Duct tape and shape it into a handle. If the glass on your iPhone isn’t flapping over, then lift the display.
WARNING: Protect your eyes from the glass by wearing safety glasses.
Next, use a suction cup to lift the front panel in step three. Just adhere the suction cup to the screen above the home button by following these simple instructions.
Fourth step: Gently detach the front panel assembly from the back casing at this point. To remove the screen, you must continuously exert force. because the iPhone 6’s display assembly fits considerably more snugly than that of other phones. Use the tools to accomplish this.
You can release the vacuum seal by removing the plastic nub. And take out the display’s suction cup as well. Lean the screen against something that can support it while you are working with it open to around a 90-degree angle.
The battery connector’s next stage is to have the following screws removed. Two screws, one measuring 2.2 mm and the other 3.2 mm (Make sure you apply them at the same place where they are now). Remove the metal battery right away. Use a prying tool to now remove the battery connector from the logic board’s socket.
Now that the front panel assembly cable bracket is secured, you can see the five screws holding it in place: Remove the front panel assembly cable bracket from the logic board. It is 1.2 mm, 1.7 mm, and 3.1 mm thick. To unplug the sensor cable connector and front-facing camera, use your fingernail.
Disconnect the home button cable connector in a similar manner. Utilize a spudger’s flat end to detach the digitizer cable connector. Your iPhone’s rear case should be separated from the front panel assembly. Additionally, remove the two 1.9 mm screws that held the home button in place. Similarly, take off the front panel’s bracket holding the home button. Pushing it upward will now allow you to unplug the home button cable connector.
Use a hairdryer to apply low (moderate) heat. Now that the front panel membrane has been separated, you must use your fingertip to push firmly and continuously on the home button. Use a spudger to delicately take out the home button display.
Finally, carefully detach the home button cable from the adhesive fastening by using the spudger’s point. If it doesn’t come out readily, use a hairdryer and gentle heat. Remove the home button from the front panel if all of the glue has been separated. (The new component might already have an additional screw in place to the left of the Home Button. In order to reattach the home button bracket, remove the extra screw.)
