The sound controls are tucked away within the Control Center icon in the top-right corner of the screen for Mac users running macOS Big Sur or later. Check to see if any plugged-in external speakers are on and volume-controlled. The app you’re trying to use might instead be muted if you hear a ding when the volume is turned up. Verify that any program you’re using, whether a music or video player, is active and the book is set to maximum.

Alter the audio device:
If you have a USB audio device plugged in or are connected to an external HDMI monitor with no speakers, it’s possible that your speakers are functioning perfectly but your computer is sending sound to the incorrect output device.
Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar in Windows 10 and select Sounds. Choose the device you want to use under the Playback tab. Try right-clicking and selecting Show Disabled Devices if you can’t see it. Click the Set Default button after choosing the desired output device. Make sure the appropriate output device is chosen in Windows 11 by going to Settings > System > Sound > All sound devices. Go to System Preferences > Sound and choose the Output tab if you use a Mac. Ensure that the right output device is listed first. If not, choose the desired option and make sure it is displayed above the line dividing the other choices.
Switch off audio enhancements:
Microsoft suggests(Opens in a new window) turning off any audio enhancements that might be enabled if you’re experiencing audio issues. If you’re using Windows 11, go to Settings > System > Sound, choose the current output device, then disable features like Spatial sound and Enhance audio.
Select the audio device you want to utilize by going back to the same Sound menu in Windows 10 as described in the section above. Click Properties, then tinker with the available choices. Verify that Exclusive Mode is not checked in the Advanced tab, the appropriately supported formats are selected, and any enhancements are turned off. Aside from that, try disabling any Spatial Sound upgrades. After making the necessary adjustments, try playing the audio once more to determine if any of Those settings were the root of your issues.
